United Tax Returns, Inc.
hours and minutes till Midnight April 15,

Welcome to United Tax Returns. And welcome to the 2004 Tax Season.

Two new tax laws, the 2004 Working Families Tax Relief Act and the Jobs Creation Act, provide more than $146 billion in tax relief to predominantly middle class tax payers and small businesses through 2010. Most of the tax relief provisions aren't new forms of tax cuts, but extensions of existing relief measures dues to expire in 2004.

Child Tax Credit Kept at $1000 - This credit may be claimed by individuals with qualifying children under the age of 17. It was scheduled to be reduced, but will hold until 2010.
More Income Stays Sheltered From AMT - The higher 2004 Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT) Income Exemption has been extended into 2005. This keeps AMT at bay for more taxpayers.
Sales Tax Deductibility - For those who are itemizing deductions, you may choose to deduct EITHER state and local sales tax OR state and local income tax.
Business Start-Ups - The Jobs Creation Act also allows you to write-off up to $5,000 of business start-up costs.

Standard Mileage Rates - For 2004 mileage rates are:

Mileage 2004 Rate/Mile
Business Travel 37.5 cents
Charitable Work 14.0 cents
Medical/Moving 14.0 cents
